All Access Internships

I am currently going through the DI Bootcamp program through All Access Internships, and I must say, it definitely includes a lot of helpful information through webinars and handouts that they provide. The DI Bootcamp includes good information on brainstorming through internships, how to find your perfect fit internship, how to interact with directors of your interested DI programs, how to write your personal statement and resume, and how to prepare for interviews. The bootcamp also includes two 15 minute phone calls with Jenny for you to answer personal questions about your DI application process. Has anyone else tried the DI Bootcamp, or other services by AAI?

Moreover, the All Access Internships website has free resources open to DI applicants to use as well, such as their internship profile listing, articles and application tips. They are also hosting some free webinars this month, including (this information is pulled from the AAI listserv e-mail):

    1. Thank you for the support! :)

Jenny and Meredith from AAI are super helpful when it comes to resources they offer, free or paid. Definitely sign up for an account and get on the listserv, because they like to post helpful information and free webinars. They also offer tips on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/allaccessinternships.

In terms of the DI Bootcamp, I felt that this resource was the best value for your buck. They split all the different steps for you with to-do checklists, helpful handouts and webinars, which makes it easy for you to stay organized. They e-mail you every week with new information, except for live Q&A with Jenny (15 min phone call, scheduled with Meredith). Believe it or not, each week goes by so fast (and sometimes they e-mail you two weeks worth at a time) and I remember struggling to keep up! I took a week vacation from work before the deadline in order to finish everything.

The only concern I had was some of the webinar videos were messed up (audio messed up in resume webinar, interview webinar missed the ending), and I informed them to reupload those videos. But Meredith & Jenny were helpful in supplementing information I missed from the interview webinar. Also, there was a week e-mail that I did not receive, so I e-mailed Meredith to request for it.

The bootcamp is definitely a very helpful resource, because it addresses so many things that I did not even think about (i.e. to contact all directors of your internships of interest, and what kind of questions to ask; how to make your resume stand out and be different from the work experience information in DICAS; for personal statement, short-term goals = 5 yrs after becoming a RD (does not include being an intern in their program), long term goals = 10 yrs after becoming RD; what questions to ask at the end of the interview). Jenny takes you step by step in her handouts and webinars, and she's very encouraging and inspiring throughout. In addition, she also tells you common mistakes not to make. Jenny especially gives very detailed information on how to write the personal statement and resume, and I am so thankful for AAI for the bootcamp. There were so many mistakes I made from applying in the past which I did not realize until learning about them through the bootcamp, and I greatly owe my acceptance to AAI.

I would advise you to use the bootcamp as a guideline to assist you with the process if you are self-initiative and can challenge yourself throughout this process. This process challenged me to think about why I'm interested in dietetics, what internships match my interests, and how to communicate to internship directors why I'm a great match to their program. I would recommend for you to already have a handful of internships you're interested in and start your DICAS application before you begin the bootcamp, and try your best to get things done before using Q&A with Jenny wisely. I've asked questions about my personal statement and resume with Jenny, just think of the phone calls as super quick coaching sessions. :)

Also, they e-mail you with discounts of their other services if you feel like you need them, i.e. mock interview coaching, resume critique coaching, application letter brainstorming coaching.

Keep me posted on your application process whether you use the bootcamp or not; it can get really stressful and tricky! Good luck! :)
